Ginger flowers come in two forms – the true ginger (Zingiber), which looks like a rounded, fleshy cone, and Alpinia, which is brightly coloured, often red, and has an elongated appearance. The ginger spice is the root of the true ginger, Zingiber. Gingers are tropical flowers that are either imported from Asia, and sometimes Hawaii, or grown in QLD and NT.
Types: Zingiber, Alpinia.
