General Description/History

Strawberry Fields is a small globe-shaped flower with a tufted appearance that comes in red, pink or white.

Strawberry Fields is an annual that is grown as a field crop, most commonly in Victoria and NSW.

What to look for

  • Open flowers that have strong colour;
  • Flowers that show flecks of yellow pollen are more mature, but they should still last well;
  • No sign of leaf yellowing.

Flower Care

  1. Keep cool whenever possible.
  2. Break bunches apart.
  3. Strip leaves from the lower half of each stem and wash stem ends under the tap.
  4. Recut at least 2 cm off each stem with sharp secateurs and place in water immediately.
  5. Preservative is essential – the sugar contained within a preservative will help buds to open and colour up.
  6. Replace water every day.
