General Description

The Pawpaw originates from the tropics and sub tropics of America. The Red Pawpaw is the most common variety. Its smooth, thin skin is pale to deep yellow when ripe. The flesh is orange-red and firmer than the yellow variety. It is aromatic, juicy, sweet, musky and almost rockmelon flavoured. Eaten fresh, it is also used in cakes and fruit salads and can be added to seafood, chicken and veal dishes.
