General Description/History

Closely related to Thryptomene and Baeckea, Scholtzia is a genus made up of small shrubs with tiny rounded leaves and small white or pink flowers with 5 petals. They tend to flower in late spring, and flowering branches can be found in June to October. Foliage is available all year. Bunches contain woody stems and are thickly branched. Stems are covered in many small (2 to 3 mm) rounded or slightly pointed leaves, which are grey/green in colour. Pink Scholtzia flowers are found right up each stem, except for the soft tips, while there are white forms that flower only at the very tip of each branch.

An excellent floral filler or foliage, Scholtzia is popular in Australia and as an export crop.
